2019 is starting to shape into a solid year for movies. With that in mind, we look through the movie releases to present you a list of the most anticipated movies of 2019. Most of the upcoming movies are long-anticipated sequels such as The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, John Wick: Chapter 3, Toy Story 4, Avengers: Endgame – and the highly anticipated live-action The Lion King and Detective Pikachu among them. 1. Frozen 2
The highly-anticipated sequel to the well acclaimed Frozen brings back Elsa the Snow Queen, her sister Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven to embark on an adventure far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. Based on the teaser trailer alone, the tone of the shows seems to be shifting towards a darker and serious sequel. The visual spectacle itself is sufficient enough to get hyped up as the movie is scheduled to be released on November 22.
2. Avengers: Endgame
After the disastrous events of Avengers: Infinity War(2018), the universe is in ruins due to the works of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the support of remaining allies, The Avengers must assemble one last time in order to revert Thanos’ doing and restore balance to the universe back, regardless of what consequences may be fallen to the heroes.
3. Toy Story 4
The adventure continues from Toy Story 3, where Sheriff Woody(Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear(Tim Allen), together with their toy companions, have discovered new appreciation after being given by Andy Davis to Bonnie Anderson. They are joined by a newcomer Forky(Tony Hale), a spork that has been formed into a toy, and they soon begin on a road trip journey alongside old and new friends.

Haunted by a mysterious and unresolved trauma from her past and mixed by a series of uncanny coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia increases to high-alert as she becomes increasingly certain that something bad will occur to her family. Upon spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers(Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family venture back to their vacation home. When the night settles, the family encounters the silhouette of four figures holdings hands as they stand in front of their home. Us pits an engaging family against a terrifying and mysterious adversary: doppelgangers of themselves.
5. The Lion King
From Disney live-action, director Jon Favreau’s “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba admires his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own destiny. But not every animal in the kingdom celebrates the cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother-and former heir to the throne-has hatched a sinister plan of his own. The fight for Pride Rock is consumed with betrayal, tragedy and drama, leading to Simba’s exile. With the support from a pair of newfound companions, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
6. Godzilla: King of the Monsters
The story arch follows the efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members go up against god-sized monsters, including the all-powerful Godzilla, who goes head to head with Mothra, Rodan and his nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. As these ancient titan-species – thought to be mere legends – rises gain, they all compete for domination, leaving humanity’s very survival hanging in the balance.
7. It: Chapter 2
27 years later, the Losers Club are all adults now and moved away, until a phone call brings them back into the horrors. The Losers’ Club band together again to fulfil their promises and return to Dery to put an end to the creature once and for all.
8. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
In this third chapter of the adrenaline-pumping action franchise, assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is back with a $14 million head bounty on him and an army of bounty-killers are hot on his trail. After killing a member of shadowy international assassin’s organisation known as the High Table, John Wick is excommunicado, and the world’s most ruthless killers await his every turn.
9. Spider-Man: Far From Home
Peter Parker is back in the sequel as our friendly neighbourhood Spiderman decides to tag along with his best friends Ned, MJ and the rest of the band on a European trip. Unfortunately, Peter’s holiday plan to leave superhero duties behind for a few weeks are quickly gone to dust(if you know what I mean) when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury to unravel the mystery of various elemental creature attacks, creating chaos across the region!
10. Detective Pikachu
The movies begin with ace detective Harry Goodman went mysteriously missing, leading to his 21-year-old son Tim to search for the cause of it. Aiding in the search is Harry’s former Pokemon companion, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, lovable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Discovering that they are able to talk with one another, Tim and Pikachu team up on an exciting adventure to unravel the complicated mystery. Finding clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City – a sprawling, state-of-the-art megalopolis where human beings and Pokemon live together in a hyper-realistic live-action world – they faced various cast of Pokemon species and unravel a shocking plan that could end the co-existence and threaten the Pokemon universe.
