CAN SOMEONE HACK MY PHONE?

Your phone is just as hackable as any other device that is linked to an internet browser. Phones are exceptionally tempting to hackers because phones usually have huge amounts of data such as banking information and social media passwords.

Hackers are eager to hack your phone using invasive malware. In addition, if you install any random apps on your phone, it can give the hackers unlimited access to your phone’s activity and secretly view all your login data from websites and apps.

In some cases, hackers can hack into phones and turn it into cryptominers where it generates cryptocurrency while drastically slowing down the phone’s performance.

Owning a smartphone has many advantages and benefits such as unlimited access to data and unrestricted communication but it can still put your data at risk.

Here are signs to know if your phone has been hacked:

  1. An unknown app on your phone

Be mindful of unknown apps that you did not download. These can also be a text message you didn’t send, online purchases that you did not approve of and even suspicious phone calls from an unknown number.

2. Device suddenly working slowly

If your phone suddenly becomes slow, then it might have been hacked. For example, if the phone’s battery becomes hotter than usual, then it might be because of a malware working in the background.

3. Mysterious data usage spikes

Data usage spikes that happened without any changes on your part can be a sign of malicious software consuming your data in the background. They do this by tracking all of your phone’s activity without your knowledge.

4. Strange behaviour

If your programmes unexpectedly switch on and off or they crash and fail to load might be a sign that it is malware.

5. Pop-ups

If a lot of pop-ups suddenly appear on your screen, you probably have spyware or malware on your phone.
