2017 has been a year filled with amazing movies from various genres ranging from comedies, horror classics to thrilling action and drama films. We’ve been entertained by unforgettable movies such as Wonder Woman, Dunkirk, Get Out, Thor: Ragnarok to name a few.

In a nutshell, it’s safe to say this year has brought satisfaction for most of us movie buffs as we plan movie night outs and look forward to opening night screenings with our pals and loved ones. Seeing that 2018 is just around the corner, we’ve compiled a list of movies which we’re personally highly anticipating in the first half! Check out our top picks until June 2018 which we reckon is worth catching on the big screen.

Black Panther

Who doesn’t love it when comic book characters come to life on the big screen? We can’t wait to see the Black Panther making its major debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Rayn Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa a.k.a Black Panther; this is one movie not to be missed. The film kicks off as T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to take his rightful place as king upon the death of his father. The film also stars Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.

Ready Player One

Directed by Steven Spielberg comes this sci-fi action-adventure film based on Ernest Cline’s novel of the same name. The story is set in a dystopian 2044, which follows through an adventure whereby the main character, Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) searches for an Easter Egg in a virtual reality game to inherit a fortune. Look out for cameos and elements from the 80s like Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Tron, and even King Kong in the film. It’s truly a pop culture mash-up we’ve been waiting for.

Avengers: Infinity War

We can bet our ringgit’s worth this will be one of the most anticipated films to catch in the first half of the year. Marvel is set to impress us by bringing together the Avengers and their allies from the Guardians of the Galaxy for a face-off with the ultimate and powerful villain, Thanos. Their success in winning the battle will lead to a triumphant save for the universe. Hold onto your seat guys as the star-studded cast returns with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johannson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and more!

Deadpool 2: No Good Deed

Making his comedic return is Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson in Deadpool 2. Similar to the first film’s storyline, this sequel continues to cater to mature audience with its wisecracks and content. In a nutshell, the storyline of Deadpool 2 takes us through the adventures and misadventures of the mercenary who battles ninjas, yakuza, and deranged canines to get his life’s mission sorted. Ryan Reynolds has been cast alongside the ‘Merc with a Mouth’, Zazie Beetz as Domino, the telekinetic lady mercenary plus the long-awaited comic fan favourite, Cable played by Josh Brolin.

Incredibles 2

After over a decade from the release of the popular animated movie, The Incredibles, Pixar has brought back writer-director Brad Bird for the second installment. Reuniting for some magic is the original voice cast starring Craig T. Nelson, Holly Huner, and Samuel L. Jackson who are all reprising their roles as the much-loved superpower family. While there isn’t much information released about the film’s storyline at the moment, you can expect the same feel-good vibe and be as entertained by it as the first film. We’re personally looking forward to enjoying the chemistry antics between Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible and Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone!
