Guidelines for Malaysians to exit and foreigners to enter Malaysia on MyTravelPass

The Immigration Department has shared steps to take in applying for entry/exit, according to specific categories such those entering for essential travel, Malaysians exiting for official purposes, and more.

Malaysia’s Immigration Department (JIM) has shared a series of guidelines for Malaysians looking to exit the country and foreigners looking to enter the country via MyTravelPass.

A summary of these can be found below.

Steps to follow for applications

1. Visit the MyTravelPass portal on JIM’s website.

2. Select the category that applies to you:

  • Reciprocal Green Lane (suspended till further notice) & Periodic Commuting Agreement (PCA)
    • RGL applies to all nationalities who are legal residents in Singapore, who need to make single-entry essential travel, including for businesses and official purposes in Malaysia.
    • PCA applies to all citizens and PRs of Singapore, who hold a long-term social visit pass for business or work purposes in Malaysia.
  • Malaysians
    • Category applies to Malaysian citizens who want to leave the country for the purpose of:
      • Official visits (meetings and conferences)
      • Business, treatment/medical and emergency purposes
      • Not allowed for travelling and holidays
  • Spouse/children of Malaysians or PRs
    • Applies to spouses/children of Malaysian citizens or spouses/children of MyPR holders who do not posses a long-term visit pass.
  • Foreigners/PRs
    • Applies to foreigners or MyPR holders who wish to enter Malaysia for official and business purposes, medical reasons, emergencies or deaths.
  • Foreign workers/maids
    • These applications should only be made by the employer.
  • Expatriates
    • Applies to expatriates/skilled workers/knowledge workers with an active pass, who had exited Malaysia during the MCO and are currently stranded abroad.
  • Malaysia MySecondHome (MM2H)
    • Applies to MM2H pass holders who had exited Malaysia during the MCO, and are currently stranded abroad.

3. Read and understand the relevant Terms & Conditions for the category that applies, and click ‘Agree and Proceed’.

4. Fill in all information needed, and submit. Applications can only been submitted one at a time. If mistakes are made while keying in/uploading the documents, cancellations/resubmitting are not allowed until the last application has been processed.

5. You will receive a notification via your email once completed.

General requisites that apply across all categories

  • Travellers will be subjected to health screening at the point-of-entry.
  • All travellers are subjected to effective immigration procedures, rules and regulation during immigration clearance at the point-of-entry.
  • Approval granted is only for a single journey. You will need to submit a new application for the next trip.
  • Travellers must check-in via MySejahtera upon arrival at the respective point-of-entry.
  • Any false reports /statements / representations are an offence under the section 56(1)(F) immigration act 1959/63.
