The move is a daring attempt to steal users from a failing rival by creating a platform that is nearly identical to the one they’re leaving. On Thursday, we tried out the much-talked-about new social network after its release. Would Elon Musk really be in jeopardy if Threads is successful?
How to start using Threads?
Launching alongside Instagram, it demonstrated the app’s simplicity and compatibility.
Upon entering “Threads” into the App Store search bar, we ultimately settled on “Threads by Meta.” The app required that you sign up with your Instagram account. Then automatically you will be on Threads. It is as simple as that!
It would be best to have a valid Instagram handle to join Threads. If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to sign up for Instagram to participate in the new app.

How does Threads work?
Microblogging platform Threads bears striking similarities to Twitter. Launching the app gives you the ability to “like,” “repost,” “reply,” and “quote” a particular “thread.” You can see how many people have liked or commented on a post by looking at the respective counters. Posts cannot exceed 500 characters, significantly longer than Twitter’s 280-character cap. Posts can include media, links, images, and videos (up to five minutes long).
Threads feel like a combination of Instagram and Twitter, and it’s a lot of fun to use. The feed is attractive, simple, and straightforward to use. You can hide unwanted content even if it appears on your timeline from users you do not follow. Once more individuals join the platform, Meta may decide to do something about it.
Unlike Twitter, Threads doesn’t appear to use hashtags, and there is no obvious way to conduct a keyword search. Like Instagram, it also allows users to upload 10 images at once. You can only upload four photos at a time to Twitter.
We tested the app in Malaysia, and it is also accessible in over a hundred countries through the Apple and Google Android app stores. This includes the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
Some people have asked if Instagram and a service like Twitter might not be too different. How will our well-organized, photo-based lives on Instagram interact with Twitter’s unpredictable, meme-filled, and sometimes completely bonkers world? It’s strange and exciting so far.
So, does Threads beat Twitter?
Meta’s imitation of Twitter is nearly indistinguishable from the original. The number of likes, retweets, and followers is almost identical to that of its predecessor. Twitter, however, has become more convoluted and difficult to use ever since Musk assumed control. So it was a welcoming change to launch an app and immediately be able to see and interact with content.
With the disarray at Twitter clearing the way for a new product, Meta is banking on this type of user experience. In comparison to Twitter, Threads is far superior right now.
Meta’s privacy concerns, on the other hand, force you to consider whether or not you really want to trust the world’s largest digital corporation with even more of your personal data.
